Last year NLT Electrical wanted to give back after seeing the impact COVID had taken on many businesses, especially charities. Offering £5,000 of electrical services to Midlands-based charities to help them tick off projects on their wish lists. Launched in August 2020 NLT has now completed its second charity works and intends to continue this into the future.
After receiving over 120 nominations, Birmingham-based charity, NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders was chosen to receive £5,000 worth of electrical services from NLT Electrical. A wish list was created allowing NLT and NICE to work together and fulfill as much of the wish list as possible.
Top of the list was outdoor lighting. The car park has several lamp posts which needed new fittings, as well as some needing new fuses. All around Canon Hill House, where the adult teaching takes place, new LED lights were installed in place of traditional incandescent bulbs adding drama and style to the beautiful, late Georgian building.
Moving inside budget was focused on changing the lights in the corridors. Installing new 4- and 5-foot LED tubes means the upstairs and downstairs corridors are much brighter. The ongoing benefit of having LED lighting in the main corridors will help reduce the charities annual lighting bill.
NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders helps children and adults, and their families, with various movement disorders. The dedicated school helps children from 0 – 11 years old. Whereas adults who have been affected by Stroke, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, and Multiple Sclerosis receive therapy in Canon Hill House.
Melanie Brown, Chief Executive and Director of Services at NICE, said, “new lighting in our car park and our building has made a huge difference to our work as a charity. I’d like to say a huge huge thank you to Nathan and the whole team at NLT, because not only have you come up with this great scheme, you’ve been fantastic to work with. You’ve come, you’ve taken the time to find out about our charity, to look at our needs, and to help us in the best way possible. Throughout it’s been an amazing experience for us and we really can’t thank you enough. You’ve helped us save money, as well as providing us with an environment to enable us to do our work, so from all our families, and from all our staff, thank you very much for all you have done for us.”
Owner of NLT Electrical, Nathan Tromans, said, “As part of our ongoing annual charity initiative, NICE was chosen to receive our electrical services. The number of nominations they received and the work they do made them a great recipient of the services. We are very happy and proud to have been able to support this amazing charity and look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.”
Staff and visitors now have a safer, brighter place to park, as well as ongoing energy savings for the charity.Posted on 9th November 2021
